When repetition erases meaning, what remains?

In this experiment, I used traditional letterpress printing to repeat the word repeat over and over again on the same sheet of paper. With each new layer, the text began to shift, blur, and eventually became unreadable. The more I printed, the less legible it became.

But the disappearance of the word didn’t mean the end of language — instead, it opened up a new way of seeing. What remained were the physical traces: the ink, the pressure, the sound of the machine, and the movement of the hand.

This was no longer about reading a word, but about witnessing its making.
